The position reports to the VP Clinical Development and Head of Rheumatology/GI, who, in turn, reports to the Director of Global Development.

The Job
|
The company seeks a physician with considerable depth and breadth of experience in rheumatology and/or immunology, with the capability to run R&D programmes and provide both strategic direction and operational input. The job holder will be a member of at least one Core Project Team and will provide medical support and scientific input into clinical study programmes, including creation of clinical development plans, protocols, and similar documents; lead clinical research teams; support BLA/NDA filings etc.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design clinical development strategies and clinical
development plans.
- Develop study protocols and be involved with additional
clinical trial activities, such as writing of the IB, CRF development, and site selection.
- Manage a clinical or project team, as required, and/or be the Clinical Development representative within core/ project team.
- Establish and maintain excellent working relationships with:
- Other groups in Development
- Research and Discovery
- Business Development
- External experts
- Regulatory Agencies.
- Develop an in-depth knowledge base in the areas of Rheumatology and Immunology.

Candidate Requirements
|
Qualifications and Experience:
- Medically-qualified, having completed general professional
training, with either GMC registration or EU equivalent, and ideally with a higher medical qualification. A Dip Pharm Med, or currently studying for a Dip Pharm Med, would be an advantage.
- A minimum of 5 years' experience of clinical development within the pharmaceutical industry, including the management of global studies.
- In-depth expertise in the areas of rheumatology and/or immunology.
Problem Solving Skills:
- Ability to comprehend and interpret clinical data.
- Ability to work independently and to solve complex
problems.
- Understanding of the complexities of global clinical
development.
