Background
Based near Cambridge, our client is an independent, privately owned company, founded in 1951. Since that time, they have built leading market positions in temperature controlled laboratory equipment, data logging systems. Having recently further expanded it's life science product portfolio they now seek an experience dynamic Product Design Engineer to join the team reporting to produce manufacturing designs and develop new products.
The Job
MAIN DUTIES • Production of specifications, estimated costs and project planning • Mechanical design of products to agreed specifications and timescales, either as an individual or as a member of a team; Modelling of new concepts and presentation of concept to customers; liaison with suppliers and assisting in the production of information for technical publications including production information; • Project manage, and carry out design work in line with agreed specifications • Create and maintain records and documentation in accordance with ISO 9001 procedures • Communicate project progress with key internal and external clients • Construction and Maintenance of Technical files • As required support Sales and provide customer support • Configure and test Systems (some building assistance essential) • Travel to customer sites to provide technical support as required
Candidate Requirements
• A proven track record of mechanical design experience in low volume manufacture, including design of control systems, ideally in the Scientific Instrumentation sector. • Several years Design Experience using Solid Works or similar systems • Experience of enclosure design (sheet metal and limited mouldings) an advantage • Multi-discipline Project management experience, demonstrating successful outcomes in terms of achievement on time and on budget • Customer interface experience preferred • ISO 9001 environment • Professional Project Management Environment
