Background

Our client is a Clinical Trial Testing Group, part of a well known and established Laboratory Testing company based in Europe to provide a comprehensive clinical trials laboroatory network for global drug development programs. Significant investment (£5.6million) has been made in new systems and equipment and also a stand alone clinical trial facility in the US. Consequently, they are now looking to invest in high calibre staff within a Business Development capacity. This role as Business Development Director will have full responsibility for the EU region. The role ideally will be based in France or at HQ in Denmark.


The Job

To market, negotiate and sell scientific testing services to pharmaceutical companies, contract research organizations, biotech firms, diagnostic companies and university/research sites across the EU, France, Germany. Switzerland and the UK in a defined territory. Develop and implement sales plans. Oversee the implementation and progress of each protocol.

1. Formulate, develop and implement a sales strategy, by sponsor, in association with Sales Director, to meet annual sales goal. Monitor progress of these activities.
2. Focus sales efforts on clients most likely to utilise clinical trial laboratory services; develop client relationships; formulate account penetration strategies consistent with the clinical trial marketing plan, develop proposals and utilise consultative selling skills to execute profitable pharmaceutical clinical trial contracts.
3. Develop and solidify long-term customer relationships with key decision-makers in the top pharmaceutical and biotech companies.
4. Provide required documentation of achievement of weekly, monthly and yearly goals.
5. Identify new markets, trends, customer needs and competition in order to maintain and improve Esoterix's services for the Clinical Trials Industry.
6. Review protocols to determine types, volume of testing and services necessary to meet protocol needs.
7. Coordinate protocol setup with assigned clinical trials project managers, interact with internal and external lab directors to develop new methods for protocol assays.




Candidate Requirements

- Proven track record in sales and/or lab operations experience in pharmaceutical or bioanalytical environment.
- Knowledgeable in laboratory operations and understand testing procedures as well as laboratory data management capabilities.
- Understanding of the Sales process in a business to business environment
- Ability to communicate effectively, both internally and externally, at a high scientific level.
- Language skills: English and at least one or more languages required.
- Graduate-level preferred but not essential



Additional Information

This role involves much autonomy and initiative. You will have to work with little supervision although you will be working as part of a Sales team. You must be proactive, be confident, be organised, be a strong communicator particularly to a high scientific level and be a solid negotiator. A knowledge of the clinical trial business is required. You must be willing to travel about 40% of the time and if you are able to speak French or any other EU language this will be most advantageous.
